Snorkeling and Park Hike
Explore the natural beauty of Cahuita’s national park in our combo tour; discover the fragile ecosystems of the coral reef, the tropical rainforest and white sand beaches.
Your tour will begin at 9:00 am at the Boat House on Cahuita’s local dock, where you’ll meet your guide and be fitted for snorkeling equipment. The boat ride takes you to the best snorkeling spots within the 600 hectares of protected reef, where marine life thrives in the coral. The reef hosts 240 species of marine wildlife including, barracudas, mollusks, tropical fish, nurse sharks, stingrays and many more species.
Pause to take in the panorama from Cahuita Point and much on a refreshing fruit snack, before beginning your hike through the trails of the 1067 hectares of protected rainforest within the national park. Your guide will point out and explain the diverse flora found -- much of which has medicinal qualities -- and the amazing fauna. The Park is home to a wide variety of animals; Capuchin(White Face) and Howler(Congo) Monkeys, raccoons, watusas, sloths, snakes, lizards, spiders, Blue Morpho butterflies, birds and crabs.
Snorkeling availability depends on the weather, and the forecast is checked on a daily basis.
Duration: 4 ½ to 5 hours for both activities, 2 ½ to 3 hours for Snorkeling or Hike Only.
Price: $25 Snorkeling only; $40 Snorkeling and Hike; $20 Hike Only (2 person minimum)
Includes: boat transportation; equipment, fruit snack, water, guide, park entrance fee
What to bring: mosquito repellant, sun lotion, towel, change of clothes, bathing suit, comfortable walking sandals.
